Norwegian artists drawn to the third NewcastleGateshead Art Fair.

Once it was the Vikings who rather forcibly brought their art to the North-East.

Now Anne Kristine Jarulf, Randi Antonsen, Gunnveig Nerol and Georgina Askeland have returned for a debut visit to the NewcastleGateshead Art Fair which is aiming to bring around 10,000 art-buyers to The Sage this weekend. Northern Echo feature.


Frans Widerberg in Newcastle 

The acclaimed Norwegian painter Frans Widerberg will exhibit colourful paintings and prints at the Northumbria University Gallery in September and October. Widerberg maintains that his “pictures are based on experiences, wishes and dreams. They are reality, just as wishes and dreams are. I provide myself with a pictorial universe where anything is possible.” More Frans Widerberg.


Norwegian galleries at Collect

Norwegian galleries Galleri Format and Kunst1 will both be represented at this year’s Collect, the international art fair for contemporary objects, which is presented by the Crafts Council at London’s Saatchi Gallery. More Collect.


Celebrating Nordic Artists

The Madrid Nordic Festival, aims to showcase up and coming Nordic artists, will take place in at The Space in London on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July. The Maddid Nordic Festival is a hub for Nordic work and Nordic artists to get together and perform in London. The aim of the festival is to promote Nordic work to UK as well as creating networking opportunities for the artists. More Nordic Artists


NewcastleGateshead Art Fair 2009

The event will open on the evening of 1st October in The Sage Gateshead and will take place over the following three days, 2nd– 4th October 2009.  The Art Fair is in its 3rd year following its growing success.

Eurovison Moscow 2009

In the early hours of a Moscow morning Alexander Rybak of Norway swept Europe away with 'Fairytale' a song written and performed by the 23 year old. Alexander went on to amass the highest point total ever seen with 387 points and Norway’s first win since 1995. Thanks to Rybak, dubbed 'Alexander the Great' by Norway's media, the Eurovision Song Contest will be hosted in Oslo next year where Norway's art and culture will be broadcast to an audience of over 100 million people across Europe.
